August 20, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Poetry at the Port

Are you a lover of spoken word? Then please, join us for our monthly night of Poetry and Prose at the Port (au Prince).

Our resident poet, and host is Indran Amirthanayagam, a renowned published and awarded poet whose work spans the last two decades. Indran’s latest project, “Rankont Dout,” effortlessly combines original spoken word with emerging Haitian musicians.

Indran will share a melange of his personal and favorite poems, feature local and visiting poets, and pass the mic to community members who wish to share their love of, or gift in, poetry or prose.

Our Featured Poet on August 27 will be Grace Cavalieri! Cavalieri is celebrating 41 years on public radio, with “The Poet and the Poem” from The Library of Congress. She holds AWP’s “George Garret Award.” She’s the author of 20 books and chapbooks and 26 produced plays, short form and full-length. She’s poetry columnist/reviewer for The Washington Independent Review of Books. Her new book’s a compendium of poetry, plays and interviews, Other Voices, Other Lives (2017.) Her latest play is “Calico and Lennie” (Theater for the New City, NYC.2017.) In 2019 the same theater will present “Quilting The Sun.” (NYC.) Among other honors, she holds The Allan Ginsberg Award for poetry, The Bordighera Award, The Pen Fiction Prize, The Columbia Award and the CPB Silver Meda

See you at #PAP for a night of Poetry, Powezi, Poesie, Poesia!
